A stately hall, panelled in dark stained oak, links the various private family rooms.  The gilt ornaments and imposing furniture, such as chairs, settles decorated with lions, and studded cupboards, are based on the early mediæval romanesque style.  As a canopy to the impressive ensemble is a coffer ceiling, picked out in red, with five brass chandeliers that provide attractive lighting.
