IDEAS FOR DRAWING AND COLOURING WITH PENCILS, CRAYONS AND PAINT

If we observe children all over the world, we notice that they go through almost the same development in their language of shape and colour. At a certain age they draw a human as an "egghead" with legs; only later are they able to represent objects more realistically, or to associate the correct colours. This is all connected with psychological and physiological development of the human brain in the early years of life.

When children draw, they come to grips with their own perception of the world, process their mental images, and also communicate them. In this creative way they discover how the "tools of the trade" work, their possibilities and the way they interact; these discoveries are fundamental to reasoning, understanding, learning, and developing as a person.

Faber-Castell is involved in practical art and learning to write, at school and at home. It is our aim to increase the pleasure that every child derives from drawing, colouring, and writing, by means of suitable pencils and crayons. In that spirit we hope that this brochure will give you some ideas of the voyages of discovery that can be made with pencils and crayons and paints of various kinds: ‘journeys’ with groups of children at school and also at home in their free time. We provide the possibilities and some creative stimulus, and wish you and the children every enjoyment with our products.
