The FABER-CASTELL brand image is essentially defined by the following three elements: the FABER-CASTELL lettering, the jousting knights and the subtitle "since 1761", the year of the company´s foundation.

 

In 1905, FABER-CASTELL launched the famous green "CASTELL 9000" pencil range. The "CASTELL" brand was promoted in the beginning with motifs of castles and knights. The tournament scene came into being shortly afterwards as a sign of new high quality beating all competition.

 

The motif of the knights is once more integral to the trademark today. It symbolises the brand’s virtues, which correspond to those of the knights: Strength, assertiveness, nobility of mind, fighting spirit, continuity and the preservation of traditions.
